Red Ribbon Week
October 27-31, 2014
Overall Theme: I Have the POWER to be DRUG FREE
Students will be provided with red ribbons on Monday, with a number on the back. Each day, random numbers will be called over the PA system. If the students whose numbers are called are wearing their ribbons, they can come to Ms. Kahns room for a prize (same day as number called only).

Monday - We have the Super POWER to be Drug Free wear Super Hero shirts (no costumes)
Tuesday We have the POWER to be a real life hero - Drug Free wear camo or patriotic attire
Wednesday Crazy about the POWER to be Drug Free crazy hair and/or socks
Thursday We are Drug Free POWER WRANGLERS wear western gear or spirit shirts
Friday We have the POWER to Wash Out Drugs bring sample size soap, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, to donate to the Salvation Army and wear school spirit shirts or red

Thanks for working with us to encourage your student(s) to make good choices, resist peer pressure and live a drug free life. Research shows that NOW is the time to educate our children about staying drug free, in order to avoid making bad choices that endanger their health and their future.

GREAT PUMPKIN CHARACTER CONTEST

Decorate a pumpkin as your favorite book character and then bring it and your book to the library for display! Pumpkins may be brought to the library Monday, October 27th through Wednesday, October 29th. Awards will be announced on Friday, October 31st.
Awards will be based on originality, creativity, and relevance to the book. Pumpkins may be taken home after awards are given out, or picked up no later than 3:15 p.m. on Friday, October 31. All remaining pumpkins will be discarded.

Contest Rules
  • Pumpkins may be any size. Artificial or real pumpkins are permitted.
  • Pumpkins should NOT be carved.
  • Use materials such as yarn, fabric scraps, paint, cardboard, stickers, etc. to decorate.
  • Pumpkins may be submitted by one or more students, a classroom or a whole family.
  • Be sure to fill out the contest entry form when you drop off your pumpkin.
  • Pumpkins that begin to decay may have to be discarded.
